Heat Exchanger Quality Control and Manufacturing Process
From incoming material inspection to pressure testing, documentation and export packing, every heat exchanger follows a defined manufacturing and inspection sequence. Scope of testing, certification and third-party involvement is arranged according to confirmed project requirements and applicable standards.
Quality control is built into production rather than applied as a single final check. Materials are verified on receipt, welds and assembly steps are inspected during fabrication, dimensions are confirmed against the approved drawing, and every unit is pressure tested before it is packed for export. Records from each stage are compiled into the documentation set that ships with the unit.
Where a project requires a specific code, test medium, hold time, inspection body or documentation format, this is reviewed and confirmed at order stage before production starts.

Manufacturing and inspection stages
Each stage below is part of the standard production route for plate, welded and shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
Manufacturing
Plate forming, shell-and-tube fabrication, frame production and final assembly are carried out in sequence against the confirmed order drawing.
- Production planning against the approved drawing
- Plate pressing and tube bundle fabrication
- Frame, nozzle and connection preparation
- Final assembly and tightening to the specified dimension
Incoming material inspection
Plates, tubes, gaskets and structural steel are checked on receipt before they enter production.
- Mill certificate review against the ordered grade
- Visual check for surface defects and damage
- Thickness and dimension verification
- Positive material identification can be arranged when specified in the order
Welding and assembly checks
Welded joints and assembly steps are checked during production rather than only at the end of the line.
- Welding procedure and welder qualification per confirmed project requirements
- Visual inspection of laser and TIG welds
- Dye penetrant testing where applicable
- Assembly sequence and gasket seating checks
Dimensional inspection
Overall and interface dimensions are verified so the unit fits the existing pipework and foundation.
- Plate pack tightening dimension
- Nozzle orientation, size and flange standard
- Overall length, width and height
- Bolt hole pattern and support positions
Pressure and leak testing
Each unit is pressure tested before shipment; the test medium, pressure and hold time follow the confirmed design conditions and applicable standard.
- Hydrostatic pressure test per design pressure
- Side-by-side leak testing of both circuits
- Air or helium leak testing can be arranged when specified
- Test records issued with the unit
Quality documentation
Documentation is compiled per the agreed order scope so the unit can be accepted on site without follow-up requests.
- Material certificates
- Dimensional and welding inspection records
- Pressure test report
- Nameplate data, drawings and operating instructions
- Third-party inspection or code documentation can be arranged when agreed in the order
Export packaging
Packing is prepared for long-distance sea and air freight and matched to the destination requirements.
- Fumigation-free plywood or steel case
- Nozzle protection and moisture protection
- Marking, shipping marks and packing list
- Container loading plan and lashing
Pre-delivery inspection
A final check is performed before release so any deviation is corrected before the unit leaves the factory.
- Comparison against the approved drawing and datasheet
- Verification that the documentation set is complete
- Photographic record of the finished unit and packing
- Customer or third-party witness inspection can be arranged when agreed
